As a 20-year-old with no job prospects, DiFrancesco decided he would get licensed to work on airplanes. After having attained his certification, DiFrancesco was hired by Boeing as an airplane mechanic. When the Korean War began in 1950, he was kept particularly busy building military planes that would be used in the war. During this time he also built one of the first military helicopters, the Piasecki H-21 Shawnee/Workhorse, which were commonly called “flying bananas.”

Our Story:
Heroes Wish Project was founded by two lifelong friends from Philadelphia who shared a simple belief: those who dedicate their lives to protecting others deserve to be honored in a meaningful way.
Joseph, a Philadelphia Firefighter/EMT, and Tim, a United States Marine Corps Veteran and Social Worker, grew up together before life took them down different paths of service. Years later, they reconnected with a renewed sense of purpose.
Having served in uniform and in the community, they have seen firsthand the physical and emotional challenges faced by veterans and first responders. Too often, their sacrifices go unrecognized. Whether those sacrifices were made on the battlefield or at home, they knew they were called to do something bigger than themselves.
Heroes Wish Project was created to change that!
They started building Heroes Wish Project in the hopes that one day will serve Heroes nationwide to fulfill dreams, restore hope, and honor the legacies of those who have served with courage, loyalty, and selflessness- but it starts right here with heart. This is more than a nonprofit. It is our commitment to give back to those who have given everything.
"This is our mission. This is our commitment. This is Heroes Wish Project!"
